5 Days Marrakech to Fes via the Sahara Desert

A one-way journey across the whole country: from the red city of Marrakech, through the gorges and the Sahara, to the ancient medina of Fes.

Itinerary

1. 1

   Day 1

   Marrakech – Tizi n'Tichka – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades Valley

   Morning pick-up and drive across the High Atlas. Visit Ait Ben Haddou, continue past Ouarzazate and the Valley of Roses to the Dades Valley for dinner and overnight.

2. 2

   Day 2

   Dades – Todra Gorge – Merzouga desert camp

   Visit the Dades and Todra gorges, then head to Merzouga. Sunset camel trek into the dunes of Erg Chebbi, dinner and night in the desert camp.

3. 3

   Day 3

   Exploring the Erg Chebbi region

   Sunrise in the dunes and a slow morning. Discover Khamlia's Gnawa music, the Rissani market and the surrounding desert at your own pace. Overnight in the Merzouga area.

4. 4

   Day 4

   Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Ifrane – Fes

   Drive north along the Ziz Valley and its palm-filled canyon, cross the Middle Atlas via Midelt and stop in the cedar forest near Azrou to see Barbary macaques. Short stop in the alpine-style town of Ifrane before arriving in Fes in the evening.

   Day 5

   Fes – end of the tour

   After breakfast, the tour ends at your riad in Fes. On request, we can organise a guided visit of the Fes el-Bali medina, a transfer to Fes airport or train station, or extend your trip to Chefchaouen.
